Tahoe/Suburban Q7 XC 90 Anything else? |

I like the compactness and zippiness of my 6-seater Mazda 5, and used to recommend it, but can't anymore - it hasn't aged as I thought a Japanese car should age. My next car will be a boring Toyota or Honda. By then I might not actually need a "mom" car, though... |
| Why not just figure out what kind of car works best for your family instead of trying to fit in with the other moms? |
| What? Are you basing your decision on what the unwashed masses are driving OP? Really? Go for a test drive and see what works for your family. And please, no more behemoth Suburban, Yukon, Denali, Tahoe, Cadillac SUV - they are sheer atrocities. |
+1 Grow up, OP. |
| Close in? Uppababy Vista because you paid a lot to be able to walk everywhere. |
|
Wife and I love our Lexus RX350 and Range Rover Sport. They are different cars, but both great in their own way.
I've always associated the massive SUVs (i.e. Tahoe/Suburban/Escalade, GLS, Q7) with exurb families and UberSUV drivers. |
We can't walk to much in the suburbs. I had the Vista, but now I am looking for my next car to carpool kids around in. |
Thank you. I've heard the 350 now has a third row. Wasn't on my radar before. |

Jeff Bezos' wife drives her kids around in a Honda Odyssey. I guess she's not acceptable though...

| OP, you should scan the lot at your Club to gauge where the crowd leans. Not sure DCUM will give you the right gauge of status as much as fellow Club members. You are in a Club, right? |
She has 4 kids. You need a minivan with 4. Not with 2. |
Mercedes makes a minivan. But some people (smart ones) value function over "status cars." |
|
Op has a point -- if she wants to be friends with the moms as superficial as she is, she needs to be careful to signal affluence without outdoing the other moms and generating jealousy.
So, all fine choices in view of her priorities. |

Range Rover is the current status car for suburban moms in my area, preferably in white.
