| Anyone know some good LACs to check out? DS will be a junior in high school in the fall and is looking into LACs. He still has a 4.0 and good PSAT scores so we are trying to check out the top LACs. I just saw another thread like this but that was from a few years ago. Anywhere on the east coast, northeast, or south is great. DS wants a school with a party scene, well-rounded student body, and good student life. He is interested in greek life but isn't be a necessity. We are planning on visiting Colgate this summer as DS is very interested in it. Any opinions on more LACs similar to Colgate? DS is our first and both DH and I went to big state schools so don't know much about these small schools. Thanks! |

Wake Forest
Boston College (no greek life) |
| Ew. You have raised your son wrong if he wants the preppy Greek life. |
You are a terrible person. |
I’m not the one who wants to consort with other alcoholic date rapists. |
OP, these are the kind of people who go to LACs. Try Wake Forest, Dartmouth, Vanderbilt, or Lehigh. |
| If you’re planning to visit Colgate, also visit Hamilton College. The Greek life isn’t as prevalent, but it’s similar academically. |
Yes, please keep him away from LACs. The troglodyte schools mentione above sound like great fits for him. |
| How was the first reply not W&L? It’s the definition of a preppy SLAC with loads of Greek life. |
| Washington & Lee, and Bucknell |
|
NE: Middlebury, Williams -- no Greek life, but preppy.
South: W&L (has Greek life--massive presence on campus) |
| Furman |
| Trinity |
Doubt it. |
