| Has anyone heard anything about Burleith neighborhood kids near Georgetown possibly being zoned out of Stoddert and moved to Hyde-Addison for elementary? This would be when renovations are completed for the 2019-2020 school year, if they're on schedule. |
Yes, this is what's happening. It's been known for quite a while. Kids already in Stoddart will continue to go. I'm not sure how it will work with siblings. HA is a good school. Will only get better after the renovations, IMHO. We are a young couple that recently bought in Burleith and we will happily put our future child(ren) in a brand new school that's not over-crowded (unlike Stoddart). |
| what a commute - will there be a bus? |
Not much of a commute at all. |
??? Isn't Hyde Addison in Columbia Heights? |
No it's in georgetown. |
the temporary location is in Shaw but if there's a boundary change it would be after that. Basically just a matter of going uphill to Stoddert or downhill to HA. |
| Hyde should go to Deal to allow a Ward 2 school an opportunity to participate in the Deal experience. |
Um no. |
| Yeah, no thanks. |
Bizarre suggestion when Hardy is literally in Burleith (vs. a 3 mile bus ride to Deal) -Burleith Resident |
| And because there are great things happening at Hardy. |
| Exactly. Thank you! |
| So is this change considered a good thing? Both schools are good so is there really a difference? |
What change? The difference is the size. |
