I was wondering in if anybody can give me any information on Alexandria INOVA for delivery. I delivered at Sibley a couple of years ago and loved everything about the experience. However, my obgyn has moved to a different office and she only delivers at Alexandria INOVA now. I am debating switching back to her old practice so I can deliver at Sibley, but I love my doctor.

I delivered at Alexandria twice and will do it again in a couple months. I had good experiences both times. All the rooms are private and I found the labor and delivery nurses to be excellent. The lactation consultants (there during business hours only during the week, I think) were hit or miss. If you are concerned about breastfeeding issues you may want to have another LC you can call. As with most hospitals in this area the post-partum nurses are hit or miss as well. Most of the ones I had during the day were excellent but the night nurses and weekend nurses tended to be less experienced and less attentive.
They have a great NICU and a pediatric specialist at the hospital at all times. A friend of mine is a cardiatric surgeon at Alexandria and he tells me that the NICU staff are top-notch. The only negative thing I can really say about the hospital is that the food it horrible. Truly! With my second delivery I brought plenty of snacks with me for my stay. Or be prepared to have your family/husband bring you food from the outside. Breakfast was OK but lunch and dinner were the worst. ![]() |
The hospital is top notch. Much nicer than Sibley!! I think if you have found an OB you really like stick with them because they are getting harder to find |
MY SIL delivered earlier this week at Alexandria INOVA and I was shocked when I heard that the hospital is trying to encourage new moms to leave after 1 night stay.
Since this is not your 1st - it may not be as much of an issue - but just wanted to give you a heads up (note this is a hospital policy - not insurance) |
