Clearable Fertility Monitor vs Digital OPK- different results?

Anonymous
Hi all, I've always relied on Clearblue digital OPKs and have 1 pregnancy from the digital. However, have been trying for half a year and in my 40s now, and no luck. So I got the fertility monitor. I did the first month thing where you have to test like 20 times so it learns your cycle. Now on month 2, it has said high for 5 days now, whole the digital opk went from low to peak on day 4 and 5 of highs from the monitor. Has anyone had something similar? Do I follow the monitor or digital OPK?

Yes, that sounds like what I had four years ago when trying for my son who is 3. The monitor never showed a peak for me. I stopped using it and stuck with OPKs. Apparently it's because the peak can come in the afternoon (and often does) which individual OPKs can pick up, whereas the monitor may miss it because you are only using FMU with it.

OP here, I called Clearable and they said to go with the digital OPK's results over the monitor this month. The said my LH surge may have been too low to be detected by the monitor but was detected by the OPK. ???? I have no clue why or how any of that works. The monitor detected a lot of high days that the OPK didn't. So frustrating. Guess I'll have to use both each month...

OP again, just for anyone who's had similar problems... used the monitor again today and it says peak! WTH??

I use a fertility monitor because I no longer take birth control (in my 40s). I use it as a tool to avoid pregnancy (no sex on fertile days).

If I were a betting woman, I would think that you are entering or solidly into perimenopause, and you are hyperovulating.

I do that some cycles. Sometimes I will have a long cycle but will show as ovulating twice between periods. Sometimes I will have a long stretch or days where I have ovulation signs. Sometimes I have my old normal, like clockwork cycles (but those are getting few and far between).

You are probably getting closer to The Change, and your system might be going a little haywire.

^^^ Hyperovulation during perimenopause can lead to older moms conceiving natural twins.

If you are up for twins, I would start having lots of sex.

We are having lots of sex (during fertile window). I'm 41, I don't think I could be in menopause yet? OPK said peak Sun and Mon and Monitor today. I don't think they are two separate ovulations, just differences in the tests most likely
