Summer Fun List in NoVa for 4 year old

Anonymous
I'm working on my summer fun list in NoVA right now for a 4 year old. I'm a SAHM so I have a lot of time to fill (my daughter is doing camp some of the summer but it's just mornings so we have afternoons and weekends completely free). Would love to hear what's on your summer fun list! Thanks!

Here is the key place we NoVA moms check for all sorts of activities and resources:

I have a 4 year old DS. Here's my started list:

Library reading program (to get the coupon book)
NoVA water parks (free with coupon)
Burke Lake mini golf (free with coupon)
Feed the fish in the old town harbor, then ride the trolley up King Street
Shenandoah Discovery Museum (day trip)
NoVA science center at Fair Oaks (they had a discount coupon in the library book last year)
Bowling (sign up for the free summer blast past and just pay for shoes for you! Kid is completely free)
Monster Mini Golf in Chantilly and Shadowlands Mini Golf in Franconia (my son is obsessed with these)
Chuck E Cheese (The one in Fairfax is actually relatively nice)
Kid Junction in Chantilly
Water Taxi ride to national harbor for lunch
Metro downtown to the building museum
Potomac Nationals game
Splash pads at Fairfax Corner or old town Fairfax
Our Special Harbor splash park in Alexandria (FREE!)
$1 movie Tuesdays at Regal (I assume this is happening again this year? I think he could finally handle sitting that long)
Michael's has $2 crafts for the little guys M-Th, with slime on Fridays
Day trip to Baltimore for port discovery and/or science center
Farmers Markets
Peach picking
Little kid jump time at Flight
Zava Zone

And then home stuff:
Car washes
Plant/care for a garden
Make cookies
Neighborhood pool
Easter egg hunts (we have been doing them since easter, just with empty eggs--good time filler!)
Playdates with neighbors
Make ice cream and/or popsicles

I am a teacher, so I'm home all summer and try to squeeze in all the stuff I don't have time for during the school year. No camps are planned (he's too clingy to handle them), but I'm not terribly worried. We have plenty to fill the calendar!

Wow thanks PP! This is an awesome list! What is your general schedule for the day? The days feel super long to me without our usual morning preschool.

Certifkid is also an awesome reference. Great ideas and deals and they have specific locations you can subscribe to.

Where are you finding water park coupons?

PP has a great list. Certifikid has water park coupons. I have a 4 yo & an 8 yo.
Last year, we did the Fairfax Co Discovery Map. Check it out. You visit 8 sites and get coupons for free activities (boat rides, camping, carousel, etc).
Also on our list:
-train museum in Bmore
-Great Falls
-Cunningham Falls
-Purse State Park (shark teeth)
-Smithsonian Folklife Featival
-Glen Echo
-swimming
-museums downtown
-summer reading programs
-science experiments & crafts at home
-bike rides
