If you don't like the post, don't read it. No need to get rude when someone is just seeking support & empathy.

Yeah, it's ok to be excited about it. Some people need to get their kids into exclusive schools so they can grow up and have good careers that then allow them to send their own kids to exclusive schools so they can grow up and have good careers and...

No need to be nasty. This board is a good place to vent the anxiety and sense of lack of control that comes with waiting for important news.

Like it or not, it does matter where you send your kids to school. As parents, you're going to be part of the school community for a long time, and your child will be spending a lot of time in the school environment. The teachers will have a big influence on your child. So of course you want a school with an environment, faculty, and community which you really feel good about! There's nothing wrong with that.

I got too worked up about admissions last year and can empathize with everyone who is stressed out about it now. We didn't get in to any of our first three choices and I was devastated- but of course everything worked out beautifully in the end and the school we did choose is fantastic.

If you happen to have great public school options, I'm glad, but don't be judgmental towards those of us who don't.

We don't have great public school options in this area because of all the wealthy people who put their kids in private schools. Can you imagine if the privileged class in this city put their kids in public school and then actually got involved in demanding they have a good education?

PP: That's what I wonder all the time.

Well, there are great public schools in the area (Bethesda, Arlington, etc.) I hear pretty much everyone will hear on Saturday, is that correct?

Next Saturday, March 8th.

Don't be surprised if you getter a few letters on Friday, the 7th. I recall getting a couple on the actual day the were to be sent out several years back.

OK - the fact that everyone is freaking out about getting into these schools - is really freaking me out!! Is this really that intense of a process? I do not recall getting in to college being this fraught with angst!!

This person is not seeking support or empathy. It'a a joke- It's totally sarcastic in nature.

11:18 poster - how do you know what the original poster was seeking? Unless, of course, you are that poster, in which case you have a very unusal sense of humor.

I am the 11:18 poster and if you look at the theme of many of the threads in this forum they are starting to get sarcastic in nature.

That is why I think this one is sarcastic.

The poster(s) are doing this to get a rise out of those who applied to independent schools.
