Thinking about going to the Smoky Mountains for about 4 days in late August. We wil be traveling with our two daughters 11 and 13. We definitely want to visit the Cherokee reservation, but other than that we don't know what else to see other than the national park of course.
An evening in Pigeon Forge - be utter tourists and play mini golf and eat fudge and go into the ticky tacky shops and find a “homestyle” restaurant with music near the river.
Dollywood in Pigeon Forge is a really fun theme park. It's on a hillside with lots of different, fun rides-including water rides. Great bird sanctuary--with show.
Dollywood and Pigeon forge are wonderful. Great steak restaurants. There’s also hiking and horseback riding in the smoky mountains. If you don’t Home at least drive through the state park. Lots of bears. We went last summer at the time of the eclipse and it was a great time.
PP here. Just went and looked my T-shirt. The place we went horseback riding was sugarland riding stables in Gatlinburg. Gatlinburg is also a fun town.
Was this before or after the fire that really damaged Gatlinburg? I agree that it is a fun town. |
