Removing ivy from up high on trees

Wow I pulled the vines from the trunk of the tree from anywhere I could each but it looks like the ivy continues to thrive up high (9 months later)

Do you call a guy with a cherry picker to remove it?

Tree is going to he choked by ivy?

Just cut it where you can reach it and it will die

I pulled it from all side of the trunk but the ivy up high is still green. Could still be dead even if green?

No, not for long.

If you've cut the stems, it should die off or at least wilt within a few days. Are you absolutely sure you've cut every stem? Is it possible that some of the ivy migrated from another tree and the stem is still intact on the other tree?

It will not continue to live if it doesn't have a root in the ground somewhere. Figure out where it's attached to the ground.

Cut a window -- cut as low as you can reach and as high as you can reach, and make sure there aren't any connections to the ground.

Don't slice into the tree when you're cutting.

Then just wait for it to die and rot. You can do more harm than good to the tree by pulling live vines out, depending on how old and how sturdy the tree is.
