Travel tryout feedback

Is it possible to get feedback? DS was waitlisted, went from being the top scorer in his house team to not making it at u9 level. I know he will be crushed, but we will encourage him to practice and try again next year. Has anyone successfully solicited feedback from VYS?

u9 is too young to be concerned with this. Shame on the clubs for having this structure for kids that are just starting to play.

Try other clubs. FPYC, BRYC, McLEAN...all very close to VYS

Or just chill. Spots always open up later. Maybe get him some 1-on-1 or other supplemental training during the waiting period.

U9 is still so young. I would not stress about not making a team this year.

PAC still has tryouts tonight, the 24th, 31st, 5th and 7th at Luther Jackson Middle, so close to Vienna. 5p - 6:30p.

Top scorer among 8 year olds?? Jeez, folks need to settle down. Practice if he wants, otherwise he should be playing with his buddies.

/former All Met soccer player who didn't start travel until 11

That's really weird. My DC was registered for tryouts but never attended (Never gave VYS serious thought). Today I received an email from VYS about being wait listed. I thought it was odd to be wait listed without ever attending a tryout.

That happened to us and it was as soft rejection in our case. We went to PAC and had a good experience there. At that age, he might just not be used to try outs and might show better now that he knows what to do. He could still try out for McLean, Annandale or Great Falls if they are still on-going.

so is he a 2009 or 2010? if he is a 2010, has he had any training, or is he just using speed, being physical, and kicking hard to score?

Op here, he’s 2010, and has done summer camps and development center. He’s the smallest on his team, but quick and agile, he uses the speed well. He is obsessed with soccer, so he will keep playing no matter what, but wants to work on the reasons he didn’t make it.

It’s because he’s small. Don’t overthink it. PAC is full of small kids rejected by Vienna.

Not PAC, we just had a few small kids come out to practice with our team....amazing foot skills and possession play. I didn't ask my kid where they came from, but I am guessing it was one of the big Clubs that don't recognize that in the cattle call tryouts. We are lucky if we get them.

Arlington is still looking for players. Email went out last night.

Attention 2010 Male Rec Players!
After receiving multiple inquiries from players who had to miss a tryout session, we have added one more session for the rising 9U Boys on Thursday, May 24th from 5:15pm–6:30pm at Long Bridge Park #4. We have room to add 6-10 players to this age group. Players need to be born in 2010.
Players who missed the previous sessions and those who attended the previous sessions and were not selected, are all welcome and encouraged to attend.
If you were registered for tryouts already there is no need to register. If you were not registered, please register in advance. Here is the link to the Travel Page of our website. Take a look at the information about our program.
Please register for tryouts before attending the session (it's free!) We hope to see you on the field!
