| Was it a rip off? This was at a gas station. |
Of course not. Why would you think this? Didn't you need the plug until you can replace the tire? |
| I’d be happy with that price. |
| Materials and labor. Totally fair. |
| The spray can plug stuff is like $7, so $20 seems great for someone to do it for you. |
| Maybe fair. I had one done for free in silver spring at my local station. Gave the guy $10 anyway. |
| perfectly reasonable |
| More than fair! |
| Fair price. New tire would be at least 5 to 10 times that. And it's about $6 out in the wilds of western VA. You're in Arlington with all the expensive real estate and high overhead. |
| Totally fair. |
I paid $ Almost $50 a few months ago. I guess I got ripped off! |
|
$20 to jack the car up, take the wheel off, pull the valve body out of the tire, pull the tire off the rim, patch the tire from the inside, put the tire back on the rim, put in a new valve stem, re-inflate the tire, re-balance it, and put it back on the vehicle?
You couldn't do that stuff if your very life depended on it. But you think $20 is too much..... JFC, get over yourself. If I was the mechanic and you balked at $20, I would've immediately told you $40 instead. |
| $20 is a great price. I hope you offered a tip! |

Our local shop has done that for free for me twice.

OP Curious if you live in Arlington or work in Arlington.
I ask because you have the entitled attitude of many young Arlingtonians that everything should be at a reduced price because they are very special. I stopped recommending my cleaner because people told me they "got a better deal" with some Groupon/discount cleaner. Yes, I can tell when I see the cobwebs hanging from your light fixtures and see the scum around you toilet base. |
