So the months have gone by and soon we will have our appointment to assess whether our 7 year old has ADHD and/or some other developmental diagnosis that will explain various issues we and his teachers have observed.
What should I expect? Will they just ask me a bunch of questions? Will they ask him questions? Will he take some sort of test? Will we get a dx or not at the appointment? Should I bring writing samples or behavior reports? It will be right after school lets out - would they be expecting his teacher to fill out a form? Thanks. Feeling a little anxious here. |
Is it your first appt? The first one (for us) was to determine insurance eligibility. So it was mostly them asking me questions and then maybe 5 minutes with my son. We were approved to move forward and our appt is 1 year out.

| Is this for the neuropsychologist exam? If so they will have you fill out a bunch of checklists and take your son for testing. Then they will take you in for a parent interview and ask you lots of questions. Then more testing. They will probably give you a preliminary assessment at the end of the day. Report in the mail within a few weeks or more. |
