Dad here and I personally think it's BS that DCUM decided to morph the Dads Forum into "sex and relationships." First of all, it's a goddamn insult to men to think that the only thing on our minds is sex, and second that's that the Off-Topic forum's all about...now I have to split my time between this and Off Topic to get all the juicy dirt.
But seriously, I've posted several items on the Dads forum in the past that were actually (gasp!) related to child care and family life, not just sex. Believe it or not, sometimes it helps for guys to get another guy's perspective on these things. DCUM has done a disservice to many of its visitors by doing away with that forum. It was probably posted to more frequently than the adoption site, but no one darns to get rid of that one (nor should they). |
You can still post questions in the other forums and have the same likelihood of getting a response from a Dad. Most of the posts in the Dads forum were from Moms.

It didn't seem like the dads forum got much traffic, and a lot of that was from moms. That's what it seemed like anyway. |
Is everyone that posts on the Expectant Moms forum actually an Expectant Mom? |
You are really wasting both your and my time by arguing about this. Do you read the expectant moms forum? If so, do you get the sense that the majority of the posters are sterile women who are not, have not been, and could never be expectant moms? If not, your analogy doesn't hold water. |
I am sadden the Dads forum never got off the ground. As a reletively new dad, I kept coming to the forum and reading what was posted. I keep looking for places to get information from that is not so mom centric. One without the constant refrain of, "Keep your mouth shut, you serve the woman and child thats it. How dare you have an opinion or want to discuss things!" A place that is not constantly dragged through the ground by trolls and women who just must give their opinion of what it is like being a dad. I do not think this forum ever had a chance to get off the ground. Thank you all who decided to ruin it for the rest of us.
I have noticed I have been lurking more and more on single dad websites to get the feed back I need, go figure. A Disappointed Dad |
Was this pun intended? |
Jeff-is it really true that the posts about trimming pubic hair, anal sex, hottie babysitters, fat wives, blow jobs, porn, etc. were all written by women? |
Many of the sexually-oriented threads were started by women (which they clearly stated in their posts). They were seeking input from men. I had no problem with women seeking dads' opinions or the explicit nature of the topics. However, the predominance of responses tended to be from women and any man who ventured an opinion would generally be attacked as a Neanderthal. Similarly, if a Dad posted hoping to get input from other Dads, most responses would be from women and he would be attacked for being a Neanderthal. The odd thing about the public hair thread is that the guy got virtually no support from other men (only one that I noticed), but got a ton of support from women. Of course, he was still attacked for being a Neanderthal. My feeling is that moms can respond to threads and call Dads Neanderthals in any forum on the site. We didn't need a special forum for that. On the other hand, the sex/relationship posts were popping up everywhere. If you can believe it, there were multiple anal sex threads going on in various forums (only one of which was started by a man). |
Wow-I guess DC isn't as conservative as some people think. Sexually, anyway. |
