| Hi, we had sex on Sunday evening. I spot a positive ovulation test today morning, and yesterday evening was still a negative one. DH is on business trip (stay in hotel) these 2 days. Can I still get pregnant (from Sunday sex) if I miss this positive ovulation test 24-72 hours window? I am frustrated, have been trying for 6 months, and thinking if maybe I should drive down to his hotel (4 hours drive) tonight. |

Yes. If you got the positive OPK today, you'll ovulate in approx 12-48 hours. Women have become pregnant from sex 4 to 5 days before ovulation before. Your odds aren't as good as they are the day before ovulation, but it's not impossible.
Does your husband travel a lot for work? |
| Assuming you ovulate tomorrow, that was sex 4 days before ovulation. Not the best odds, but not unheard of. When does he get back? |
| You can get pregnant almost anytime. Always assume that it's a possibility. |
| OP here, he will be this Friday. |
I'm going to correct this because we're in the TTC forum. You can get pregnant in your fertile window, which is approximately 5 days before you ovulate and max one day after you ovulate (12-24 hours usually). The most fertile days are the three days leading up to ovulation (O-3 to O-1) with O-4 and O being still decent odds. If you are not tracking ovulation, then err on the side of caution and consider yourself fertile. If you are tracking ovulation, like OP, then there is no reason to treat yourself as always possibly fertile. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9288325 |
yeah, that's probably too late to catch this egg, if you do ovulate tomorrow. If you want to do the drive, then do it. But after six cycles (speaking as someone who's on cycle 5 myself), I don't give each cycle that much chance of success, so I probably would do it as soon as he gets back and just focus on next month. |
| I would drive! But I love driving and hotels. Sounds like fun to me. |
