Spooky 3D ultrasound

This is going to sound terrible, and I’m sure will bring a lot of eyerolls (I get it!), but I had a 3D ultrasound today at 32 weeks, and guys, the baby is not looking cute. It looks to have this big, upturned pig nose. Maybe it is the angle of the images or maybe my baby is part swine, but it was very surprising. I sent pics to my husband who said “WTH is up with the snout.”

Do babies come out looking like these high def 3D images? Will it change much facially in the next 8 weeks? Obviously I will love my piglet, but man was it weird to see on the screen!

Lol, I don't like those 3D ultrasounds much either, OP. The babies look weird, IMO. However, my daughter popped out looking like a normal newborn at 40 weeks.

DD looked like my husband in the ultrasound and still does!

I hate all ultrasounds, especially the non 3-D ones. I'm pregnant with #2 and had nightmares/dreams about the last ultrasound I had. It was a skull looking straight at me and it just kept popping in and out on the screen. So freaky. It looked like a horror film or spawn of satan.

My first looked NOTHING like her 32w US (got an elective boutique US with 3D).

I think all of those 3D images of gestating babies are terrifying. At least yours looked like a cute little piglet. Mine looked like an evil alien. Luckily he came out pretty cute and at five months is completely adorable.

If it makes you feel better, I laughed out loud and exclaimed, "it looks like alien!" when the tech showed me my 3D u/s....

Don't trust it! You'll most likely think your baby will be adorable when they arrive (even if it actually looks like a baby pig!)

Yes to the snout!

I had IVF for my first and there was a period during my pregnancy that I worried maybe they transferred the wrong embryo b/c the 3D picture looked nothing like DH and I.

But the baby came out cute as a button, and the nose was normal sized. lol.

Actual LOL, OP. Seriously.

I've always thought those 3D ultrasounds were creepy looking, and in my opinion, 90% of babies look a lot better at 5 weeks than they do at 5 minutes old.

OP here. Thanks for the camaraderie on freaky ultrasound nightmares. I know it is silly, but I am telling you, this baby is looking part animal!

And to the PP about IVF — yes, this baby is an IVF baby also, and one of my first thoughts was what the hell did they implant me!

My husband has admitted to deleting one of the freakiest looking pictures I sent him today. I may do the same. We are terrible people (But really v happy about having a baby after many years of trying).

OP, do not delete the photo. These things will provide amusement for YEARS to come.

We had an ultrasound tech tell us she had never seen such a hairy baby at my 34 week scan. It was true. It looked like I was going to birth wolverine. Obviously it was terrifying to think we would have an ape- child. Good news, she isn’t abnormally Hairy.

It's possible the baby is just squished up in there - that happened to us! Looked like a pig nose on the ultrasound, but my son came out looking normal and has a perfectly normal nose.

Aww, baby wolverine. We should meet up at the National Zoo with our animal babies once mine arrives

Ps — glad your kiddo is at a normal level of furiness
