| We went to SGF in 2015, did shared risk, and were successful on the second fresh cycle (Fresh #1=3 five-day blasts, none PGS normal; Fresh #2=all frozen cycle, 3 PGS normal, 1st FET took). If we go back to SGF and do shared risk again, will they make us use the 2 frozens first before moving on to a fresh cycle? Does anyone else have experience returning to Shady Grove after an IVF success? Did you go back the same RE? Repeat the last protocol that worked? |

Why would you want to do Shared Risk again? I would just do a regular FET, which is much cheaper.
I was successful in 2015 as well in my fresh cycle and last year, we went back for our FET which resulted in a miscarriage and for our second FET, I am now 39 weeks pregnant. The only difference in my protocol from the fresh cycle is we were asked to do PIO instead of Endometrin (for fresh). |
| My concern is that if the FETs don't work, the record of unsuccessful transfers will make us ineligible for shared risk. We're doing this without insurance, so 2 FETs is already going to be $9000. |
| You have two PGS normal embryos remaining, right? I think you are getting way ahead of yourself assuming what if two more transfers each don't work, and then you wouldn't be eligible for shared risk again... Just make an appointment and ask them. Agree with PP on doing regular FET. But you can always ask when you meet with them. |
| I am the PP who suggested FET. You have two PGS tested embryos and you had a success in 2015. You have a high chance of being successful again. If it's me, I would not do Shared Risk again for $20,000 (whatever the exact figure is) PLUS medication knowing that you can do at least two times FET with PGS tested embryos. |
Wait, who told you this? I had a successful IVF cycle through SG in 2011. DC1 born that year. Then in 2013 we tried to use the two frozen embryos we had from that first IVF cycle. Both transfers failed. And then we decided to go for SG Shared Risk - were accepted (I was 39.5 years old by the way) and I got pregnant on the second cycle. No one EVER made mention of the failed FET cycles and my doc (Widra) seemed completely supportive of us doing Shared Risk. |
