DH, 1 year old DS and I will be going to the Greenbrier in WV for a weekend in November.
Any advice on what we can do with a 1 year old there? Thanks! |

I go there several times a year and love it!! I would rent one of the cottages-Springrow cottages--they have a front room with a fireplace and a back bedroom-also a porch that will be pefect for hanging out with a drink after little person goes to sleep. They also have great babysitting at a reasonable rate--I usually use a lady named Bonnie (set this up with housekeeping) and all the sitters have long relationships with the Greenbrier so no worries about someone running away with your child.
Hmmm try the carriage ride-we did this with a one year old and lshe loved it. There is a indoor pool that might be fun to splash around and of course, the ground are beautiful so bring your stroller to go on longwalks. Feel free to ask me any questions! |

How much are the cottage for a weekend?
I am not OP but sounds really good. |
OP here. Thanks. Are there good running paths? As in, should I bring the jogging stroller? |
|
Oh yes-bring the jogging stroller!! Many beautiful paths to walk/run on--they also have supervised hikes that leave early morning and usually one around lunchtime. Oh forgot about afternoon tea--they have violin/piano music and my little people always loved watching and I loved the little treats and tea.
You know price depends on the package you get--the food is great but...I would stick to Sam Sneads--ask to sit by the window for a great view--or you can eat more casually in the bar area which is really large. The main dining room has a great breakfast but..very dressy for dinner and I just can't handle that right now--not enough spandex out there Oh just remembered-they opened a steakhouse in October-I haven't checked that out but I am sure it will be great--they needed it as they tried out a "NY themed" restaurant about a year ago and it didn't really fit for their environment. Another thing-they have a photo guy who takes photos before dinner and you can buy the prints--they are beautiful. I also had him do a family photo shoot that we scheduled-that is pricey but no worse than going to a good photo person around here and again beautiful shots that you can have set up to have the iconic "Greenbrier" background for holiday cards.. Hope this helps

| I do hope that you aren't the same folks who can "afford" to pay the nanny only $15 bucks/hr. In other words, if she's any good, you do pay at least $20, right? |
| Give us a break. |
| I am not sure what a nanny has to do with advice on a trip to the Greenbrier? This is the travel board and lots of people like to travel and save up for a nice time away. I would take a weekend at the Greenbrier before a week somewhere else and you don't have to pay for a flight. |
Really, why do people on this board have to be obnoxious - someone was being extremely helpful with advice on the Greenbrier - I appreciate this post, as I have also been thinking about spending a weekend there w/our 1yo. Thanks for the info! |
