I have a friend named Chip. It's not a nickname. Not a name I would choose, but it is one syllabul. I totally forgot about James. And I have a James. |

Well it may not be a nn for your friend's son but, it is a nn. My nephew is named Keith but, they call him Chip. Just Chip is awful. Also, cousin is Charles but, they call him Chip. |
