| Noticed there is a separate category for Special Needs. Are they included in the overall pass rate or weeded out of that? I ask because one year my kid had a teacher who was really out there. He is special needs and normally passes, but didn't. I know for a fact a bunch of kids didn't pass because I am friends with the parents. Then I saw the schools pass rate for that grade level and it was impossible based on just the kids I knew, even if every other kid in the class passed. |
| Yes. Which is why if you have a child who is on the border of needing services, you seek out the very high pass rate schools. They want to keep their numbers up, so they are very generous about providing services. I found that in APS. |
Fascinating. Do they weed out ESOL too. Can they pick and choose which ESOL and SN to include or are both groups totally out of the composite? |
You miss understood. Yes they are included in the overall rate |
| They are included in the overall pass rate AND are sectioned out into their own sub-group that must have a certain pass percentage. Minority students are also sectioned out into their own subgroups. |
ESOL Students who failed the sols are weed out. |
