I really want to go somewhere after Christmas before the kids go back to school. We have only ever done Disney in Florida for a family vacation. But I like the idea of going down to Florida for a week, staying at one resort that has lots of activities but walkable to the town with restaurants and shops. Don’t have any preference if Atlantic. Or gulf side, but would like it warm enough to swim.
I’d say no more than $400 per night. Any recommendations on hotel and beach? |
| It won’t be warm enough to swim anywhere in FL. Even in the keys water temp will be low 70s. |

We did Sanibel Island one year and it was very nice. We didn't really swim in the ocean, but you could get some beach time, wade a litle, and swim in the pools. Marco Island is also nice. They are Gulf side, so I think the water temps are a bit higher than ocean side?
I think there is a Marriot resort on Marco Island -- those usually have nice pools and some kids activities, but not as many as an all-inclusive (which will probably run you more than $400/night). |
| We've done two trips to Club Med Sandpiper Bay and we love it. It's all inclusive and lots for kids and teens of all ages to do. We were there during the winter break and it was definitely warm enough to swim. |
Except that there's no beach there.... |
The heated pools will be fine. |

Try a nice cruise. |
