Anyone else’s dog having trouble with the heat

It’s her first summer in DC. She was huffing and puffing this morning when it was 75 out. She is an athletic dog but has a flatter face (not totally smushed. Hoping she just needs some time to adjust to the 70s.

Mine struggled this morning. We try to do long walks early and after the sun goes down and just keep him comfortable inside. It helps mine is a senior and doesn't need much exercise-- if yours does you might look into some indoor daycare?

We have a golden retriever--so athletic with a heavy double coat. It takes him about a month to acclimate to the heat and humidity here in the DC area every year (we brought him from Michigan 7 years ago). We also try to go out early and then late for our two walks and also to limit time out during the middle of the day. He has a cool bed to sleep on as well (which helps).

It's the air quality. The last few days have been Code Orange. Watch that, especially for brachyocephalic dogs like yours.
