city mini - ok for infant?

Anonymous
I'd been reading about the city mini and was thinking it sounded like a good option and just met someone who had their 2 year old in one - can you put an infant in this stroller? The seat looked ginormous! How does that work? Thanks

I'm pretty sure they need to have head control before you use the Citi Mini....

You can purchase an infant carseat adaptor for your citi mini.

So what stroller is ok for infant?

Best option is to get a snap and go for your car seat.

We're using a Snap and Go for the first six months and then getting the City Mini.

i'm planning to use the city mini from day 1 (DS due in december) and get the car seat adapter. The cost of adapter for the city mini is basically the same as the snap and go and this way i get the better wheels from day 1

Our City Mini says "Birth to 50 lbs." on the box. However I think it'd be better to get the infant adapter or the Snap-N-Go (both about $60) for a while. I think it might be OK at "birth" given the recline of the seat, which goes back quite far. However I question if it would be supportive enough to use from Day 1. Also, having the infant seat adapter means if the baby is sleeping in her car seat, you wouldn't have to move her to the stroller and vice versa.

Is it true you cant jog with a City Mini? Please let me know. We wanted to get the Bob but are now considering the City Mini--if we can actually jog with it.

We got the City Mini when DD was 7 months old. While you CAN use it with an infant, I honestly loved having the Snap 'N Go when she was younger because of the big basket - losing that was definitely one of the negative tradeoffs when we finally made the switch. And the SNG really isn't bad for use when they're little - when they're that light anything is easy to push - the difference in pushing ease really shows up as the kids get heavier.

And to address 14:19 - the City Mini is definitely NOT a jogging stroller, as the company itself states. And while I have run very short distances with it (i.e. like down the block because we need to get home quickly), it would not be good for actual exercise running. For that / long walks we also have a Bob, which we haven't *need*ed, but have definitely enjoyed having for the incredibly smooth easy push.

You can use the city mini with an infant as long as the seat is fully reclined. I used a head/body positioner in the stroller until the baby got head control and could sit up a little. You can also get the adaptor or a snap and go.

Yes, it is true City mini is not a jogging stroller even though it's made by the brand "Baby Jogger".

but there is the city classic, which is a jogger, i believe...
