Only, we have not contracted with anyone to treat our yard. This is upsetting to me, because I have young kids that are outside rolling in the grass daily now that the weather is nice. We feed our rabbit dandelions that grow in our yard, and the kids know how to identify and pick wood sorrel to eat. I'm concerned as to whether or not our lawn has been sprayed with pesticides, which would not allow them to do that anymore. There is no company name attached, and it is clearly standing up in the ground, put there purposefully. But it seems so random that our house would have been accidentally treated. It would have happened in a presumed 4-5h window, and our immediate neighbors who are retired never saw a truck or men working.
What to think? |

Is it a plain yellow flag? Or does it say something about lawn treatment/products on it?
Are you sure it's not a utility marker: http://va811.com/homeowners/what-do-the-markings-mean/ If it is lawn treatment, we had this happen to us. We were able to find out the company and complain. They were spraying for an HOA nearby us and went a little too far. Very frustrating because we also do not treat our lawn. |
| It specifically says lawn treatment in progress and has a little picture of adult/kid/dog shadow figures and says keep off lawn for 24h or until dry. |
| That happened to us once. I called the company and complained and they told me to enjoy the free treatment. They were supposed to be at a neighbor's house. |
| You might want to post on your community listserve to see if any neighbors were supposed to get a treatment. Possibly walk around the block and see if there are similar flags and knock on the door and ask what company they use. |

Is it just one? Usually when an area has been treated there are tons of flags.
My three year old relocated one of those flags on our walk home from daycare a few days ago. I had my hands full and couldn't get it, and I didn't think it was doing any harm, so I let it go. I would bet something similar happened. |
