My husband and daughter went to their first Nats game of the year and reported that cans of beer in the stands were $15.00 dollars each. Can that be right?
Did Dan Snyder buy the team? |
| The beers are 25 oz so it is like getting two beers. Domestic non-craft beers are $12 |
| If you get there early, there's a "happy hour" at a bar in the outfield (the one upstairs from the kids area, near Shake Shack, etc.). $5 beers until 30 minutes before the first pitch. My husband loves that place and insists we get there in time for him to have a couple cheap beers. |
| Yes, beer is expensive in MLB parks. |
Ew, so the beer is totally warm by the time you’re halfway through it? Will stick to minor league games. |
| We recently went to a Nats game and got relatively cheap tickets and had a great time. But we dropped a ton of money on food!!! |
Seriously, bring your own food in! I know it's not nearly as exciting as buying it at the stadium, but it really does save money. My son never eats until we're somewhere with expensive food, like a ballpark or a theme park. Sigh. |
| I know they have Summer Shandy (Leinies) on tap but haven't seen them in bottles or cans so they are ice cold. |
We just went to Sunday's game and what we saw most people doing was splitting the tall cans. One would pour half into a glass and the other would drink from the can. It wasn't even that hot Sunday until after the 5th inning and the guy in front was complaining that his beer was getting hot (his half can) too fast. I can't imagine keeping one cool on a really hot summer day. I'm not a beer drinker and always carry a $2 bottle of water in from outside the stadium instead of paying $5 inside. |
| The top price for “craft” beer was $16. Insane. And there are $1 waters outside if you don’t mind carrying it. |

Be glad that Nationals Park is one of the few places where you can bring your own water (1 bottle/person) and food.
Nothing new here - prices for food and drink at major league sporting events are generally outrageously priced (although the Atlanta Mercedes-Benz Dome cut food and drink prices significantly) |
I know, I learned at that game that I could have brought my own! I might at least bring some next time. |
