| We moved to our neighborhood for Discovery. Now it looks like our children will be at Jamestown or Taylor so Nottingham can take over Discovery. Should we be concerned about either of these schools? Any idea what year they will force us out and will existing kids be allowed to finish? |
| Private school would be your best option. Jamestown and Taylor have many issues and you wouldn't want to jepordize their education. |
| goodbye slide, we'll miss you |

OP, what does this even mean? Discovery is only 3 years old, and is comprised of families that were at those very schools. All are strong schools, filled primarily with well-off white children.
Boundary moves won't go into effect until 2021, so the current 1st graders will be entering 5th grade. The vast majority of current students won't be impacted by these changes. It's families with preschoolers who should be paying attention. You must be a really bad troll, or a woefully ill-informed person. |
| Both schools are good. Jamestown has a reputation being snobby/elitist, but the parents I know personally at the school aren't like that. And Jamestown has the benefit to you that most likely the whole school will be zoned to go to Williamsburg with you for middle school, whereas the Taylor population is likely to end up split between Williamsburg and Stratford when this is all done. |
Maybe OP has preschoolers. If OP's oldest is in kindergarten and she's got another younger kid or two as well, that puts her right in the middle of all of this transition. |
Lady...you better clutch your pearls because if the go to Jamestown or Taylor you might as well start filling out applications for NVCC. |

Nothing has been decided. No schools have moved. No boundaries have changed. It's ALL SPECULATION at this point.
Maybe stay calm until you have a reason to get upset? Or is that too much to ask? |
| OP, why did you choose Discovery in the first place? Did you really not consider any other school in N. Arlington? |
Nothing has been decided, but since the staff isn't going to share its boundary maps until the location decisions are effectively made, it's entirely reasonable for people to try to figure out boundaries for themselves now to understand how the two options might affect them. |
Hi troll! OP, Jamestown and Taylor are both great schools and at least as good as, if not better than, Discovery. |
Sarcasm, dipshit. |
Have you seen their playground? And the slide? The ground are amazing, I totally regret not buying a house zoned there that we liked that was a hair over our budget. Taylor is such sad sad campus; and of course the pot smoking gym teachers doesn't help
But we know many families there and they love it. Same with Jamestown. |
Every school has its downsides. Discovery has a great playground and wonderful teachers, but it's well know that its administration is pretty weak. |
Not well known enough. Please tell us why they are weak. Weak where? |
