Green Acres vs Sheridan?

We're considering these schools for our DC for next year. Any input appreciated.

Both are great schools. Ironically, Sheridan "suffers" (i.e., may not get the recognition it deserves) from being in the shadow of the Big 3. Green Acres "suffers" for being so far out in the burbs.

I though Sheridan had a stronger music program. Otherwise, I think they are very closely matched.

Yes, i would definitely ask where you live before recommending one over the other.

I would urge you to visit the schools and talk to current families and study the philosophy and mission, teaching style, learning experience, administration, and facilities of each school. I would bet that one school will fit your child and family much better than the other. They are very different schools. Good luck.

Is Sheridan progressive?

Yes it is, but not to the extent that Green Acres is. DCs are at Sheridan but we also loved Green Acres when we toured and DC#1 was also accepted there. GA was too far of a commute, we felt, but it seemed like an amazing place.

I actually do not agree with 14:33 that the schools are "very" different. Particularly WRT teaching style and general curriculum, and faculty. Just my opinion, but I saw a lot of similarities there.

Sheridan has a lower enrollment and is physically a smaller school with a smaller, urban campus. I personally think GA has the best campus of any Lower/Middle school we toured, with the possible exception of Norwood.

With the right kid, you can't go wrong with either IMO.
