Speaking of Shady Grove, when are they closed in December?

Aren't they closed 2 weeks or the whole month?

I am a patient and I've never heard of them being closed, ever. I am pretty sure they are open 365 days a year.

Yeah I am too I know they are technically open but I think they don't schedule IVF cycles in December or part of December.

I think they are open everyday, but they don;t schedule IVF retrieval/transfers for the two weeks during Xmas/New Year's.

They clean the lab during the last 2 weeks of December so they don't do retrievals or transfers during this time. They are open for monitoring. Each year they have a specific date by which you need to have started stims by to make the cut-off for December IVF. Generally this is during the first week of December. If your stim start date (based on your LMP, birth control pills and lupron) is after the cut off they will cycle you in January. You can start stims and monitoring in December as long as your retrieval date doesn't fall until the first of the new year (or likely second of the new year because I don't think they start things back up on New Year's Day).

It's not unusual for IVF clinics to close the lab for cleaning. At Cornell (arguably the best clinic in the country) they cycle all women in groups or "series" and then shut the lab for a week between each 8 week series in order to clean it.
