Silver Spring camp recommendations

We are moving to Silver Spring soon and I'm looking for recommendations on camps for my 6-year-old. He's done YMCA where we are, and enjoyed it, so I've been looking at that. Any experiences with it?

KAH summer camp if there is one affiliated with the school he will attend

I agree with the KAH suggestion, or look into whatever aftercare company camp is affiliated with your new elementary school. We’ve tried YMCA camp and it was ok, but KAH is much better run.

Yes, my kids have both done YMCA day camps for years - they are great!

thanks a lot for the recommendations. I think we are going to do a bunch of the weeks at KAH. It looks pretty fun. I signed him up for Roundhouse Theater too, as he's been asking to do a theater program.

Downtown SS only or greater SS area? We loved Camp sonshine in the northern SS area and highly recommend it. Also recommend Sandy spring in olney just outside of SS.

Kids also liked Wheaton Park camp.

Roundhouse Theatre. My daughter enjoyed that. Also, I've heard great things about Create Arts

We dude Create Arts and my kids loved it for one do the teacher work days. I think an entire week of full day care there might be a lot - but my kids like to get outside a good amount each day in summer usually.

Evergreen Montessori has a lot of specialized week-long camps like art, cooking, science. My daughter really liked it when she was younger. I think some of the camps even include swimming in the mornings.

+1 for Evergreen Summer

The Highwood Theatre in downtown Silver Spring. My kids have done their "Art Squared" summer camp and absolutely loved it.
