I think most people feel Yorktown and Washington Lee are the strongest high schools, and Williamsburg and Swanson are the highest middle schools. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the elementary schools that feed into any of those other schools.

Thomas Jefferson was the only middle school that made AYP last year, and Yorktown was the only high school that did not make it.

What kept Williamsburg and Yorktown from making AYP? Does anyone know what area(s) they missed it in?

Look it up on the website. They have to provide that info for NCLB.

Is W-L a good school? Test scores aren't great.

Yes, it is a good school. It has a brand new facility which is fantastic and the IB program. It does have a larger immigrant population than Yorktown so I would assume that is why the test scores are lower. But it is still rated very highly and there is lots more to a school than just its test scores.

According to the website, there are LOTS of areas you must make to achieve AYP, Yorktown made it in all areas, except only 76% of black students met requirements for the math and 79% was expected. They had made AYP the last 3 yrs.
