false positive?

Is it possible to have a false positive on a home pregnancy test? Has this happened to people? Or only if you end up having a non-viable pregnancy?

No such thing. Only false negatives.

usually the only way to get a false positive is if you are on a weird medication, and you would probalby know your likelihood for it then.

There is no such a think as a "false positive", unless you took a trigger shot (fertility treatment) and tested before the drug is out of your system.

You can get a false positive if you had a recent miscarriage. And before you say, not me, women do miscarry before they even know that they're pregnant and just think the resulting bleeding is normal flow. I do hope for you that this is not the case (provided you do want the baby).

Agree with the other posters, but do want to say that some women "think" they have a positive HPT when really what they are seeing is an evaporation line, or they looked at the test outside the test timing window, etc. My sister was always convinced she was pregnant or receiving false positives, but she'd leave the HPT sitting on the counter and come look at hours later or squint really hard to see an outline of a line ...
