Hoffman Boston?

I'm curious what Hoffman Boston parents are thinking about regarding the boundary realignment. The school has been on the upswing, with what appears to be a well liked principal. But she's to be the new principal at Drew? Who is her replacement? And, what of the students in Nauck currently attending Hoffman Boston? About how many of them are there, and will they all be attending Drew next year? Wouldn't their departure leave some space at Hoffman?

I think it's a little early to speculate to much about boundaries given how early we are in the location review process. That said, I think the expectation is that there will be some space freed up at Hoffman Boston, and this space will be used to give relief to Oakridge.

Interesting. Might make sense to draw from pentagon city. It's a very short bus ride, prob no longer than to oakridge. And might keep arna valley at Oakridge and avoid the terrible optics of bussing lower income kids to Drew who currently walk to Oakridge.

I live in Pentagon City and this is precisely what I expect and would be perfectly happy with. We're an equal bus ride to both H-B and Oakridge, but H-B will have the room, and it would probably be a faster ride vs. going through the neighborhood.

Perhaps that was one consideration in moving the principal to Drew -- some familiarity and continuity for the students who may also be moved to Drew from HB in order to "put neighborhoods back together." Plus, she built-up that program at Hoff Bos; so she may have the experience and the confidence of the community to build a strong program at Drew.

If you relocate most of the pre-K classes at Hoff Bos, you'd free-up even more space. Montessori preKs need to go to Henry with the Drew program.

Do we have any idea about the plan to replace the principal at Hoffman-Boston?

We are at Hoffman Boston and that is exactly why the principal told us she is leaving - she wants to bring the same kind of improvement and opportunity to kids at Drew. It's a huge loss for us, but we hope to get another great principal.

As far as the selection process is concerned, I believe they are now reviewing candidates, who will be selected for an interview next month. PTA will have representation on the selection committee.
