So I am in the market for a new family car and I was hoping for some end of the
month deals but they are so "meh"... People say that the best deals are at the end of each quarter, so if that would give me greater savings I would happily wait the maar 8 weeks so I could peacefully enjoy the spring without a headache of car buying, could focus on the house remodel and searching for a new home and leave the car purchase just in time for Summer to truly enoy it and be off the headache of school year to deal with this whole damn process. But the big question is: Is it really worth the wait? How much can you save on a car so it is worth a while? If I can save couple thou then definitely yes, even 1K would be worth it but if it is just peanuts then I will pass. Please advise. |
| Is buying a brand new car ever worth it when it depreciates by thousands as soon as you drive off the lot? |
| you can buy a brand new 4Runner for about the same price as a used 4Runner. |

yes - model year end clearance is in the summer
depending on what you are buying - and how flexible you are for color and options - you will save this. Wait until either the end of the quarter OR end of summer decide which one you are going for - and just do it! You might want to get a notebook - shop around now - figure out what you want and what people are offering. 2 days before end of quarter call them and say you are going to buy and ask them for their best price. You now have a baseline to compare it to and you know who is blowing smoke and who is serious. Wait a day and someone will call you saying they have the deal ..... |
Last week in December we got ours for a steal. I waited almost a year

So there are two schools on that. Half of the people love and buy new cars and another half hates them and buy used ones. That way entire population is happy. Therefore if you get an answer you need to specify which group you are asking, otherwise you will get two answers. |
That doesn’t sound peaceful at all. And, pro tip - don’t go under contract to buy a house and then go out and buy a car before you close. |
| I waited for almost 6 months, but I wanted a specific car. Ten years later sti love the car, worth the wait. I wasn't waiting on a deal, but it was fair. |
| I got a pretty amazing deal just by emailing around at the beginning of the month. A lot of dealers don't play that game anymore, but I found 2 that were willing to work for my business. |
