A friend of mine has a middle school aged child in Loudon County schools. It's pretty obvious the child has ADD but she can't afford to pay for private testing. I'm in DC and I know DC pays for testing if you request it. Does Loudoun do the same? Is this the best way to go about requesting it or should she deal with her school?

Request at the school in a written letter to the principal. This website explains the steps and even has sample letters.

| Does that parent have medicare? in FCPS teachers are not allowed to test for ADHD, they are allowed to tell the parent they think their might have ADHD but they need to take them to the dr. |
No, private insurance. But I'm talking about testing to rule out other learning disabilites, not specifically testing for ADD/ADHD. |
Send an email to the school asking for the child to be evaluated for special education services. In the meantime, the parent should have the child evaluated by a doctor for ADD. If a formal diagnosis is made, that information will need to be provided to the school during the eligibilty process. |
