| I am a little surprised that my lists for K have not moved at all. I was expecting maybe a little backwards movement as PK3s might pull in older siblings, but even after all the Saturday events there is no change. Is that weird? |
| Many people wait until the last minute to enroll and then it takes schools a few days to process the paperwork. |
|
Lists just don’t move much in Common Lottery era.
You either get very very lucky with a good charter, or go to your IB. Very few people truly ‘hit’ the lottery. |
| Enrollment deadline is May 1st. You'll see some movement then and a little more over the summer. I wouldn't expect a lot of movement for K though. |
| Last year our K list barley moved till August (and then only a little). Schools are waiting to see what IB kids show up at the last minute before they let in new kids. |
| Time to move out of Trinidad/Brookland/Shaw/Logan/Bloomingdale and be an adult! |
You're helpful.
|
That's actually a concrete answer, with a solution |
And where do adults live in DC? |
| What you’re implying is that it’s time to “move for the schools” to wherever you live? |
If it is helpful, we did get a call off the waitlist on Friday for SWS (we were #2 but I was still shocked to see it happen so quickly). We are #3 for K at Lee and it hasn't moved. I'm sure this is more typical. Good luck! I know the waiting is not easy. |
Are you going to accept the spot at SWS? |
| OP here, thank you everyone. Actually Inspired Teaching moved one spot for me today (but no, I do not live in the areas listed by snarky PP). |
| K can be difficult to get into. For decent schools, many families are already set in that school. Spots only open up when kids lottery out or move, so there won't to be a lot of spots available. Also it is the first year for mandatory education, so IB kids who may not have attended in PK will occupy spots. |
CMI K list should move by a slot, if it isn't already. We're moving our rising K to our in-bound school. |
