sensitivity of inexpensive HPT

Anonymous
Does anyone have experience with cheap HPTs? I purchased some online as I get crazy when TTC and feel a need to test but I am not willing to throw lots of money down the toilet. I am now at day 30 without a + or AF.

My question, has anyone tested + before day 28 with cheap HPT?

I just used a HPT that expired June 2008. It might have been CVS brand. I don't recall. I bought a multipack of cheap testers not thinking I'd get pregnant the first time we had unprotected sex 2 years ago. Got a positive reading at day 30 so I'm going to say cheap ones work just fine.

Yes, I received a + on $tree HPTs at 11 DPO or CD25. My cycles are usually 26-30 days.

The Dollar Store sells both HPT and OPKs - and they're a $1 each - can't get cheaper than that.

They're sensitive enough for me.

I posted a similar question in the TTC Forum. Look there.

Like PP, I stocked up on CVS brand when they were on sale because I assumed it would take a while. Got a + when I tested just for fun at 6 or 7 days before missed period. Seriously. I took a few over the next couple of days and the line was there on all of them. Interestingly, the control line (not the additional pregnant line) was very very faint on a couple of them. They must have been older. I heard the dye can fade or show more faint when they are older.
