Is this a good time for us as a nation to inform the Baby Boom generation they are not as young as they think they are. Perhaps 70 should be the cutoff age for holding political office.

Only death will stop them from running, but in the meantime, we've all been reminded of the importance of the VPs, who will debate next week. At the very least, the VP debate will be much more civil.

It’ll probably be cancelled. For continuity of governance reasons they can’t be in the same room together.

Interesting, but why? Why can't Harris and Pence be in the same room together? Harris is a US Senator. Pence is next in line. If Harris is negative for covid19, why can't she be in the same room as Pence?

I'd think they'd have a lot of ventilation/air filtration in the debate room also.

Exactly, they'll be at least six feet apart and it will be well ventilated. If the want to be extra safe, they can make it 20 feet apart. Also Pence is 61 with no comorbidities, which means his risk is still well on the low side compared to Trump.

They should just do a debate on Zoom. There is no reason in this day and age why they need to be physically together to discuss anything.

That's fine with me and I'm sure Biden will follow whatever the commission decides, but up until now, it's been Trump's team that has been making a big deal about rule changes and hiding in basements and so on.

The current strain seems very mild. 1000s of kids at Notre Dame tested positive, none of them even showed symptoms, did they?

There are multiple strains. And 18, 19, and 20 year olds are in a different physical place than overweight 70 year olds.

The death rate seems basically non-existent lately, too.

Wrong again.

+1 just checked the worldometer. 920 people listed as dead yesterday alone. That's not the 2k we were seeing at one point in the outbreak but it's not "good" or "basically non-existent" by a longshot. That's almost 30k Americans per month dying of it. That's bad.

I wish someone would have pulled the pandemic response plan out of the trash and had Melania plagiarize that instead.

Where was she around Sept 20th, and since that date?

Were there any indoor rallies?

She started symptoms yesterday I believe.

I think it was Wednesday. Just wondering where she would have been infected. Where was she around Sept 20th, 21st....

If he gets very sick, that is a big problem. US may have to settle with Pence as the temporary president. Worse, the election gets postponed and he stays in office for 1 more year. If he gets better fast, good for him but he'll just use that as no big deal virus. But, everyone else he infected may not have the same outcome.

Very historical year in every way.
I'm a normal person but i do not wish him to get very bad with the virus, or anyone, but knowing him, he'll use it any way possible to gain politically and sympathy votes.

Why would we postpone the election over this??

+100. We will need a lot of litigation support. Kamala will breeze right through this in an orderly manner.

The election has already begun. Votes have been cast. There is no stopping the election.

The election is not delayed a year. His being sick does not impact the election. It is in the Constitution. his dying would impact the election but I don' think that would help him (or the republicans) hold on to power.

It wouldn’t. People are just hoping.

I don't want him to die for two reason 1) he has a minor child and unlike him I actually care about the wlling being of children 2) I want him alive to face justice at the end of his term.

his sho
My only thoughts on him being sick, is that this should a lesson for him. He was arrongant and careless with this virus and all of our lives since February, acting like it was a joke. Now he knows it's not a joke, so maybe just maybe this will be a wake up call to him and his supporters.

It cannot be delayed anyway. Not without changing the laws and statutes which at this point, no one in their right mind would do. Even if Congress attempted it, they couldn't push it back that far since the electoral college has to vote and if they push it into next year, the Speaker of the House becomes President. There will be no delay and the President being sick (or faking it) has no impact on election day.

This is why he needs to recover. His ass needs to go to jail for all his crimes against the USA.

High hopes. There have been so many times this man has failed. He doesn’t care. He doesn’t care if he is wrong, he lies and says he wasn’t wrong. He just lies. You’re hoping for the devil to repent. It would be wonderful, but don’t hold your breath waiting on it.
