They had 2 employees wandering around, not restocking anything -- I'm guessing bc ordering/distribution is messed up so they have nothing to stock.

I get it because FEMA and other disaster guides say to have water on hand, but I agree that it is unnecessary for this particular event. People in Wuhan still have water and electricity.

I don't think water and electricity will go out here, but don't fool yourself into thinking that public infrastructure in the US is somehow superior or even the same as in China ... China's centralized control of electricity & water likely makes it much, much better in an emergency than the US grid.

GUYS. I also went to Costco this morning. There was an employee policing the toilet paper line. Two giant packages per person. A women sent her husband to get his own cart so they could each buy two. I thought of you all.

I just went shopping this morning (Friday) at a Safeway, CVS, and Harris Teeter in NE/SE DC and there were absolutely no shortages of anything other than hand sanitizer (and I even found some of that at Dollar Tree). Plenty of paper towels. Handsoap and disinefectant wipes a little thin, but still plenty.
