Expectant and Postpartum Moms

We had our 13 wk ultrasound this week. The doctor said it looks like a boy.....although that is of course not certain at this point.
Curious if anyone was wrongly told the gender at 13 weeks. I saw it and it looked like a boy. I'm a little hesitant to act on this information.....although I would really like to tell everyone I know. |
| I'd wait to share until the doctor and you are positive. Why drive yourself crazy about the odds? |
| I would hesitate to tell anyone until the 20 week ultrasound - at that point the doctor or technician can see things more clearly. But even then, it's possible to get it wrong! With our son, it was very obvious that he was a boy because during the 20 week ultrasound he had his legs apart and there was no mistaking it. But with girls, it can be more difficult. I know someone who was told during the 20 week ultrasound that it was a girl...she bought girl clothing and decorated the nursery for a girl. Lo and behold, when the baby was born, it was a boy! The only way to know for sure is to have CVS or amnio - but you wouldn't have either of these tests solely for the purpose of finding out the gender. I'm 17 weeks now and we had a CVS done at 11 weeks - in addition to ruling out Down syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities, it was a nice bonus to find out with 100% certainty that we're having a girl! |
We knew at 10.5 weeks from an u/s! The dr. blurted out "I think you're having a boy", and something about she only gets this view 1 in 400 u/s. Sure enough, we were scheduled for a CVS the following Friday and the results came back XY. |
| We had the exact same experience as 14:38. Doctor could tell at close to 11 weeks and confirmed a week later by CVS. |

Our daughter was incorrectly identified as a boy around the same time. I would definitely take it with a grain of salt!
I think they all still look like boys around then because of the tail. |
| I'll let you know in 5 weeks. I just had an U/S at 14 weeks and the doctor said that he's fairly certain he saw boy parts but, of course, he couldn't say for sure. I'm trying my best not to get hung up on it, but it's hard. My husband, on the other hand, has already told people at the office... |
