Can you prepare for the WISC?

Anonymous
Does anyone know if you can prepare for the WISC? I have heard no, but then I had a neighbor say that her friend totally prepared her child for the WISC. She knew what was on it and drilled her kid beforehand.

If you could, you really would?

If you did "prepare your child for the WISC" also known as cheating, then you not only run the risk of having your child score at a level that is not supported by other information (e.g., teacher's observations, report cards) but you may also miss something that the test could have otherwise picked up. Furthermore, your child could always say, Oh yeah, I've heard this before or I've done this kind of thing before and that goes in the test report and your shit out of luck.

If you want to help prepare your child for the WISC or any other standardized test the normal way, do the following: Read, talk to your child, expose them to new things.

OP here. I wasn't asking if you should (which I understand), I was asking if you could. FYI, my child is already past that. I just sent her in with a good breakfast, like they said to do. Then I talked with a neighbor about a friend actually preparing her child for the WISC and I honestly thought there was no way to do it even if you wanted. I've never seen anywhere any description of it and I just thought it was an IQ test. I agree, it's cheating (and PS, I don't feel that way about helping your kid prepare for other standardized tests like the ERB, for which I really believe you can and should practice the skills needed so your child does her best...and since it's just plain ol' standardized test reading and math, it's pretty easy to study for).
