Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
| My DD just turned 11 months and started daycare. I am responsible for sending her 2 snacks and lunch. Ive been sending her puree fruits, creeal and puffs. What else do you send your child? |

Mine is 14 months and we send everything.
We usually do fruit in the morning at home (along with either oatmeal or plain whole wheat waffle) so mainly send vegetables to daycare to eat with each meal (green beans or lima beans, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potato, squash, avocado, basically anything that is easy to steam or microwave and dice or mash up). We still do baby food pureed carrots because it's just easier. To go along with the veggie we do: -diced up chicken breast -cut up veggie burger -whole wheat wraps with hummus -yogurt -cheerios -cut up cheese chunks -black beans over brown rice -vegetarian baked beans -whole wheat pasta - she prefers it just plain and likes to pick up the noodles and eat it - usually we get the macaroni shaped noodles Sometimes we do a leftover of what we ate - I have a simple, chicken and vegetable casserole that is soft she can eat, and a simple healthy chicken pot pie she can eat - we just dice it/mash it. |

At around that age I was sending:
Yogurt Cheese Carrots (very well cooked so they're soft) Grapes Beans (black beans, kidney beans, garbanzo beans) Avocado Chicken I cut everything into VERY small pieces (including the kidney and garbanzo beans) so the women at daycare didn't have to do any extra work. They could just open the bowl and give DD the finger foods. Also, if you know your child is not allergic to sesame, hummas is a great choice! |
