We finally made it off the wait list into SACC!

Anonymous
So, we've been on the wait list for "quite a while" for before care SACC. Since we are new to the school (and school system and county), can anyone share what the kids "do" in before care SACC? I know we can drop off up to 2 hours before the start of the school day... and my kids will get dismissed to their extracurricular activities two days a week. But other than that, I'm at a loss what to tell my kids about it (and they start tomorrow morning).... Since we're new, we don't know anyone else at the school we can ask...

Can any SACC parents share what they know about SACC before care routines, etc.? I know that each school's SACC program may vary, so I'm just looking for general info I can share with my kids before they start.

TIA

My kids are in after-school SACC so I do not have first-hand experience with before-school SACC. However, I have friends that have their children in the before-school program and they really like it. The kids get to play outside on the playground as well as do some small arts and crafts projects before school.

Congratulations on getting off the wait list! (We were on a wait list for after-school SACC for close to two years.)

My third grader started in before school SACC this year. We are still on the wait list for after school SACC. Sigh.

I think it's similar to after school. My DD tells me they can read, play games, do crafts, work on homework if they choose, etc. She likes hanging out with friends (she knows a lot of kids there) before school starts. If there are morning activities, they keep track of that and dismiss them to it. They also have the option of going to breakfast if they want. Sometimes I have to drop her off pretty early (at 7:15), and on those days she usually goes and gets something to eat because she had breakfast at home at 6:30/6:45. Our school doesn't start until 9:15, so she spends up to 2 hours in SACC at times.
