Please need your guys help. which school district is better? I know overall fairfax has better public school system. but compare to those specific two high schools, will stone bridge high better or centreville high? DD is current in FFPS AAP program, but we would like to get out of the rent. within our budget loudoun would give us better house. thanks!

I don’t know if it is the case that FCPS is superior to LCPS. What I’ve heard from friends with kids in LCPS makes me think that they’re more forward thinking than FCPS is.

I haven’t really heard anything good about Centreville HS’s academics from anyone, including kids that go there. No idea about the LC high schools, but the closer in elementary and middle schools have good reputations.

based on US news, Centreville ranked far behind the Store bridge. but read some posts on the forum, someone said stay in FFCP anyway, it will be better than others. BTW which ES and MS you are referring to? thanks.

Ashburn is more affluent than Centreville, so Stone Bridge has higher test scores, but Centreville has a larger Asian population and actually offers more academically. The high schools in LCPS are cookie-cutter and there’s not much to distinguish one from the other.

Yep, affluent means smart.

Affluent often translates to more/better resources.

To the person that asked about ES/MS, the ones I’m familiar with are in South Riding. I have a friend whose DD is in a CS enrichment school, and she is beyond thrilled with all the opportunities available to her daughter.

Loudoun has the edge when it comes to smaller schools and school hours.

Fairfax has the edge when it comes to academic options, such as Academy courses, range of foreign languages, IB in addition to AP, etc.

Could you let me the school’s name? South riding’s houses are also very nice.

The CS enrichment school is by Rt. 7 and 28. I think it’s Meadowlands Elementary.

question to OP - what made you choose Stone Bridge as the LCPS for this choice?

Does Loudoun have the same periods as FCPS and same requirements for graduation? I don't really understand why the FCPS high schools require PE for 2 years and have a study hall every day. I'd prefer more electives to choose from.
