For the Montessori parents

I wanted to know if you have advice on socio-emotional stuff in the primary classroom. Also any books to recommend, etc?

My PK3-er is frequently having trouble with her few friends in the class. They are friends, but also fight, and perhaps provide distraction from the work tasks as well. I guess I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for from the teachers, since the classroom is mainly self-guided activities and it's hard to get a teacher's attention very often. My kid seems to mainly gravitate to one type of work as well, and I just don't know how to gauge how she is really doing.

Anything else you have learned about Montessori that could be helpful is welcome too!

Have you asked your child's teacher?

You should ask your school if they hold Montessori workshops for parents. Breakthrough does and it’s taught me so much. There are also other workshops you can attend. Which school is your DD at? Ask the ED about Parent/Montessori Pds or workshops. We are always getting info about them. You should read up on Montesssori as many PK3ers will work together until they learn independence. My dD did. What did your DD’s guide say when you brought these concerns to him or her? Have you had any classroom observations yet? Those should be offered pretty regularly.
