Expectant and Postpartum Moms
| Can anybody recommend a good OB or specialist in the DC area who has experience with expectant moms who have a bicornuate uterus? |
| I went to Dr. Collea at Gtown. He was great with my bicorn. uterus and the issues I had. |
| Thanks so much for the recommendation! |

I go to Women to Women in Arlington - I have bicornuate uterus and the doctors there have seen it many times before. I love Dr. Cobbs and Dr. Caskie.
Many women with BU don't have problems - my last pregnancy went all the way to term with no issues, though it was watched closely, and I had a normal vaginal delivery. |
| I agree- I carried a singleton to term with no problem. I know someone who carried twins to 33 weeks. It can be done. Good luck. |

Thanks for your responses! I'll be at 11 weeks tomorrow but have already had some complications. Twice now I have had significant bleeding followed be spotting. My last ultrasound showed a healthy developing baby on one side of my uterus and blood filling the other side. Although both sides are connected, the blood seems to be sticking to its own side. So, so far so good, but the bleeding has made me a bit concerned about other complications that could arise.
It's great to hear the stories of women who have had healthy babies and I hope to be able to share my own in another six or seven months! In the meantime, it's reassuring to have some recommendations for doctors who have experience with this and the potenial complications that can come with it. |

14:10 here. I have read that up to 50% of BU women have bleeding or spotting. I had a lot of bleeding with my first pregnancy at about 8 weeks. It went away and the pregnancy proceeded normally. With bicornuate, sometimes the second part of the uterus acts independently of the pregnant side.
With my second pregnancy (currently 31 weeks), I haven't had any bleeding or spotting but it is apparently considered somewhat "normal". So don't worry! |
