UH. First they are 13.
DH and I are 8 years apart. Im 24. I brought my stepson to soccer practice and when I picked him up, he ran into the car telling me what his friends had been saying. It didnt seem to bug him, he was laughing hystericallly all the way home. I dont want him to be bugged at practice. !!!! Anyone have the same response? |
| If he was laughing I wouldn't worry too much. |
| I'd feel flattered. At least a little bit. Good for you! |
| I suppose it isn't a big deal to your stepson since he felt comfortable sharing it with you. |

Had the same thing happen. I was 30 and my stepson was 15. Just make sure that you are "Mrs. X" to his friends as opposed to "Mary". Be clear that you are an adult and not in any way shape or form flirting or trying to be his buddy or pal.
I'm not saying you are, but I know it helped my stepson when it was clear in front of his friends that I was a grown-up and not just like some cool older sister in terms of how I acted towards him and his friends. And yes, privately, be flattered. |
| I'm not sure Mrs. X makes sense. If she's the only adult on the soccer team or among his classmates' parents who goes by Mrs. anything, it could backfire and become a joke. My son is 13, I am familiar with the mentality. More important is demeanor. Dress down, don't get too familiar, be a bit reserved if that helps. Yes it is a great sign that he shared this with you! |
| I think you are hot. |
