| I know most of our friends who have done Santorini tend to been there for 1 or 2 nights. Is there any reason to stay longer? We don't love rushing around, but some places become boring for a longer stretch. I'd love to hear from others whether it is worth staying in Santorini for longer, and for how long? What are the "must dos"? We have been to Greece several times and have stayed on other islands like Paros and Naxos and Crete. |
| We just returned from there, stayed two days and wish we had stayed one additional. Oia and Thera are each worth a day, and there are great ruins at the base of the island, plus the red beach. We also visited ancient Thira (a cool hike to the top of the highest peak)...covered in wildflowers and not to be missed. Great food and wonderful people all over the island. Enjoy! |
| I would stay until the next inauguration |
Haha. We stayed for 4-5 nights and loved it. 1-2 nights is a crime. |
| I wish I could live on Corfu. Santorini is lovely and I could stay there for a week, if not longer, but I like to lounge on beaches all day with an occasional day trip. Depends what type of experience you want |
I was there five nights and it was perfect. That hike mentioned to the highest peak is on my top five of travel experiences. You feel like the entire island is falling away beneath you and you are just a tiny dot above the blue, blue sea. Simply awesome (actual causing of awe). |
| forever. |
Exactly what I was going to say. Buy a one way ticket. So what there's not a lot to do. It is spectacular. |
We stayed four days and it was perfect. I was on my honeymoon though, so it probably would have been perfect no matter what. the place is amazing.

| 1-2 nights is not enough.. we stayed in Oia 5 days/4 nights and could have stayed longer |
| I stayed in Greece a month, and it was not enough. If you get bored in Greece, you have issues. I say stay as long as your budget and vacation time will allow. |
| Thank you to everyone for their responses! I feel better about staying for the better part of a week. My 12 and 13 year old love beaches and swimming - will they get enough of that? Pardon the probably ignorant question. I have just heard that Santorini isn't great for beaches. They are older and do not need to build sandcastles etc but they do love being on the water and enjoying it. |
