| DC considering both schools for high school, can anyone share information on college acceptances at these schools? Trying to decide whether to go public or private. |
|
For fall 2018? How did your kid get into both? The lottery has always precluded that outcome before.
Someone posted the 2017-18 SWW early decisions results a few weeks ago. I think they were really strong. |
| I'd be worried about the DCPS grading scandal. College admissions did not have news of the DCPS grading scandal previously. The recent DCPS scandals might affect this year and next year significantly. |
I wouldn't worry about that. The colleges will want to see your child's AP test scores (graded by the College Board), and SATs to see if they correlate with their GPAs. |
| Anyone can prep for the SAT and/or ACT. Grades and peer group do matter. Especially when comparing DCPS to suburban magnets and elite privates in this area. |
I assume for fall 2019. Trying to figure out which to rank 1st. |
| Can't speak to Banneker. Walls is as strong as any private school, imo. Hardworking, bright, involved kids go to the best colleges in the country. If you have the opportunity to visit Walls during the 2nd semester, there's a board with all of the seniors and their college acceptances posted. |
From earlier this week http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/716426.page |
| I don't think they have posted most of the spring admissions yet at SWW. The fall ED decisions were really, really impressive, IMO, especially since a lot of the kids can't afford to apply ED (because they need to compare aid packages). But if you swing by the building, you can see what has been posted so far. |

Watch out, the SWW college counselors can't and won't do much for your kid. We hire a college coach. Child was just admitted to two top liberals arts colleges.

I'm fairly sure colleges know that the "grading scandal" where kids who should have failed our were passed, does not trickle up to the kids at Walls and Banneker. |
| I don't know about Bannecker or Walls but Wilson seems to have had good college admissions this year. |
