| We just had one and I cannot say I found it helpful. There's no privacy! |

Why do you need privacy?
They don't share data/scores with students' names attached, do they? |
I need privacy to ask questions about the concerns I have regarding my daughter. They did share scores (without names but it was easy to tell by people's reactions) and it's a huge bummer to me to see how badly many of the kids are doing. |
So, set up a private meeting. And tell your principal how you feel about APTT. It's a grant program, and the school can decide not to participate in the future. |
I was just wondering if other people like these meetings. Am I missing something? Also, it annoyed me that I had to find childcare for a "Conference Day" even though the APTTs were already finished. |
| They are good, but I personally always ask teacher to meet at least once in fall after first quarter to get one on one feed back and hear about social adjustment and friendships before the year is half over. |
|
I have a child in K and 2nd and loath then now. I attend because the teachers or schools get credit or funding for attendance or something like that.
On top of APTT, there’s the conferences which is what I’m looking for to obtain feedback. |

I like APTT a lot and appreciate that our school tries to schedule them at times that are convenient for most parents. I find the whole class data helpful and have HD good conversations with other parents during APTT about supporting our kids’ learning.
I also find it helpful to have all or most parents in DD’s class in the same place at the same time because hat almost never happens outside back to school night and that happens too early in the year to know who anyone is. That said, if I have concerns about DD or need more information, I just contact the teacher directly and set up a meeting. It has never been a problem. |
Thank you PP. I guess at our school the whole class data is kind of hard to swallow because performance is so low. Perhaps there is nothing that can be done about it, but it makes me want to leave the school. |
| The only thing I didn't like was that they were scheduled late morning on a weekday. No alternative time options. Guess it works for people who have flexible jobs. |
I'd rather have the data than be blissfully unaware, and only have information on my kid's performance until PARCC scores come out the following year. |
|
I *hate* the APTT model.
My child's elementary school does them, and I refuse to go & ask the teacher for a quick personal conference instead. I have zero desire to form a "parent team" and discuss strategies to encourage other parents how to help their kids. And I hate the verbiage saying that these meetings are "required" of parents. |
Well, I'm glad your kid isn't in my class. Jesus. |
| Likewise. You don't need to help me find strategies to help my high performer do well on parcc , and I don't need to counsel you on how to get your kid up to grade level. |
| I hated them - so glad our charter stopped doing them. |
