I know Anacostia High School is not particularly popular among DCUMers, but I'm surprised nobody has posted about the walk out at the high school today. So, I'll do it myself. Apparently, staff and students arrived at school today to find either no water or very little water running in the school. According to one teacher, only 2 out of 14 bathrooms were working. Reports also say the cafeteria was flooded and breakfast could not be served. In response, both students and staff staged a walk out. According to State Board of Education member Markus Batchelor who met with WTU members from the school, the school has a long record of neglect by the central office and frustration has been building for some time.
Chancellor Alexander tweeted that she is on her way to the school to hear directly from students and staff. Anacostia High School underwent a $63 million renovation in 2013, but like many of the renovated buildings, has had continual maintenance issues. There is plenty of information about this on Twitter.

Who is responsible for maintenance, DGS or DCPS? I'm not even sure.
DC DGS.
