| When can we plant grass seed to cover bare spots from the winter? |
| You can it it down now. I would’ve done so a few weeks ago. |
| Keep in mind that if you put down any weed preventative your grass seed will. NOt germinate |
| Strosniders told me last week to wait a couple of weeks until it is consistently above 60 degrees. |
| fescue needs that cool temps though to germinate. its a coolseason grass.. |
| You should have done it last fall |
|
"Cool season grass such as Fescue, will germinate best when the soil temperatures are between 50° and 65° degrees F. These soil temperatures usually occur when the daytime air temperatures are between 60° and 75° degrees. The fescue grasses, when planted properly, germinate within 10 to 14 days"
I'm overseeding this weekend (yes, yes, I know, fall overseeding is best...just moved in a new home so no other option. We have a sprinkler system which hopefully will help grass over the summer). |
It’s supposed to snow this weekend. |
NP who just threw down some grass seed this afternoon...shouldn’t the weather this weekend help with the whole cold/damp germination? That was my thought. |
| In about a week the forecast appears to warm up. |
If it rains a lot, it could wash away the seed though, which is why I’m not seeding this weekend. |
